Hyperglycemia is known to worsen stroke outcome. The mechanism by which and level at which hyperglycemia worsens stroke is not known. However, there are data that show even modest hyperglycemia (glucose >150 mg/dl) enlarges eventual stroke size and increases the risk of brain hemorrhage.
Therefore, treat glucose aggressively.
